Electrical Design Engineer – Low Voltage Systems

As an Electrical Design Engineer – Low Voltage Systems, you will play a key role in shaping the infrastructure behind today’s most vital facilities. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers, you’ll apply your expertise to design, analyze, and troubleshoot electrical systems that power everything from utility networks to mission-critical operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed electrical designs and specifications for power distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, UPS units, standby/emergency generators, and automatic transfer switches.
  • Design and implement grounding systems, lighting systems (interior/exterior), fire alarm systems, and lightning protection systems.
  • Support installation, integration, and maintenance of electrical equipment while ensuring compatibility with mechanical and electrical systems across facilities.
  • Conduct load flow analyses, equipment evaluations, and power quality studies to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with facility technicians to diagnose and resolve issues with existing equipment, controllers, and power systems.
  • Coordinate electrical installations and maintenance activities with local utility personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes and standards, including NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 497, NFPA 101, AFSPCMAN 91-710, and IBC.
  • Provide technical documentation, reports, and recommendations to both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • P.E. (Professional Engineer License).
  • 5 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on low-voltage systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in power system studies, engineering design, and equipment specification within an electrical utility or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of both current and emerging technologies in electrical power distribution.
  • Strong background in quality assurance/control, code compliance, and safety standards.
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership skills with the ability to guide teams to successful project delivery.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities for engaging with clients and technical teams.

Control System Programmer

Position Summary

As a Control System Programmer, you will design, program, and optimize control logic that ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of critical power and facility systems.

In this role, you’ll work closely with electrical and mechanical engineers, project managers, and clients to bring complex systems to life. From ladder logic programming to troubleshooting advanced automation networks, your work will directly impact how facilities operate, save energy, and maintain compliance with safety and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement control system programs (ladder logic, function block, structured text, and HMI development) for a range of applications.
  • Configure and maintain PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems, ensuring optimal integration with electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Support commissioning and start-up activities, verifying that all control systems function according to design.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to design and integrate control strategies into facility operations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in control systems, electrical equipment, and automation networks.
  • Create technical documentation, including schematics, operation manuals, and system specifications.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for facility operators and technicians, ensuring system uptime and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements for all control system applications.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in control system programming and integration.
  • Proficiency with PLC programming software (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider).
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms.
  • Strong foundation in electrical systems, automation protocols, and industrial networking.

Preferred Qualifications

  • P.E. (Professional Engineer License) or equivalent certifications.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, and other applicable codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in energy, utility, or industrial projects.
  • Experience in system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
